Merlin Music

Since 1963 the Merlin Music Society, a registered Charity based in Monmouth, has provided live classical music of a standard usually available only in the cities. We are recognised as one of the foremost music societies of the UK.

Past performers include John Lill, Richard Rodney Bennett, Ian Bostridge, Pascal Rogé, Freddy Kempf, Ailish Tynan, Llyr Williams, BBC NOW, European Union Chamber Orchestra, English Symphony Orchestra, Welsh National Opera, the Wallace Collection, I Fagiolini, Boyan Ensemble of Kiev, Endellion String Quartet, Kit and the Widow.

Members pay a subscription fee, which entitles them to attend all concerts free of charge. Membership and tickets to individual concerts are available (Contact and Booking) from Mrs. Christine Ferguson on 01600 772747.

Our Venue, The Blake Theatre, Monmouth, is made available to us by the generosity of the Headmaster of Monmouth School. It has full wheelchair access and members of Monmouth St John's Ambulance Brigade are present for concerts. We also have close links with Wyastone Concert Hall.

The Merlin owns a Steinway Model "D" Grand Piano which was purchased in 1973 and underwent a full reconditioning in 2005. Please click here for further information upon the Steinway.
